SPOKANE STREET , One Door East of Col. Avenue. —_—. ©OOOOOOOOOOOOO The meeting of the carnival commit- tee last evening at the parlors of the Bank of Montreal was well yattended. The program already announced was added to by Ross Thompson offering a di cup to the fal junior hockey club of the Kootenays. The committee will also offer seven medals te the members of the successful team. Nelson’s junior team has challenged the Rosaland boys, who are practicing neatly every evening on the ice pond near the Black Bear compressor. Upon the completion of the rink they will be given possession every Saturday evening after it is closed tothe general public. Only boys of 16 and under will be eligi- ble to belongito the Juniors. The committee was met last evening by a committee of two from the hard rock drillers, and the subject of making ita feature of the winter carnival dis- cussed, which resulted ins determina- tion to carry it over to the Queen’s birthday celebration. It was thought to do justice to a drilling contest some $2,000 in purses should be hung up, and that it would be too much for the com- mittee to undertake to raise in the short time it has. The committee appropriated $50 for the purpose of clearing aski course. The right of way ofthe Kootenay Light & Power Company on the south slope of Monte Christo mountain has been se- lected.
