Consumer Affairs Minister
Peter Hyndman has written
Crysler Canada Ltd. to com-
plain about what he says is
shabby treatment being giv-
en some of the automaker's
B.C. customers.

Hyndman expressed con-
cern over the way some
dealers handled a rust Prek
lem on Dodge Aspen and

* Plymouth Volare models in a
letter to the president of
Crysler Canada. = -

Chrysler had announced a
front fender replacement
program for the 1976 and
1977 models and ‘invited
owners to go to Chrysler
dealerships and have the
fendrs inspected and possibly
replaced because of rust.

The program was to run
until November, 1980.

Hyndman said he has re-
ceived many complaints from
customers who went to the
dealers for inspections but

were not informed about the-

replacement program. He

said others did not find out’

until after the expiry date.

the Eisenhower administra-
tion was prepared to “hold
Berlin at all costs,” even if it
meant a general war, prev-
fously: secret Senate testi-
mony discloses.

Transcripts ‘released re-
cently by the Senate foreign

relations ‘committee: also -

show that Christian: Herter,
then acting state secretary,
believed such a war would be
nuclear.

But Assistant State Secre-
tary Livingstone Merchant,
declined to say fiatly, in
response to a question, that
the U.S. would respond with
an atomic bomb in the event
of a Soviet attack on U.S.
convoys in Berlin.

The testimony’is contained
in 900 pages of transcripts
and related materials .re-
leased as the 11th volume ina
historical series of the com-
mittee's closed sessions.’

“I cannot visualize seeing
fighting this out in the middle
of Europe in a limited war,”
Herter said.
