The name that is on the lips
of most every Canadian at
this time cropped up at the
Legion on Monday evening.
Terry Fox is the courageous
young man who has won the
hearts of all thinking people
on the North American
continent, with his campaign
to advance the research into
the disease that has already
robbed him of a leg and
threatens him even more.
Terry Fox had the guts to
do something which has been
needed for a long time, the
fight against cancer will
never be won unless people
get behind anyone who
realizes what it is all about

have come into close contact
with it.
But I'm getting away from
my subject. The point is that
this week I met a young man
who knows Terry personally;
Danny Holm ran with and
against Terry when both were
kids in Port Coquitlam.
. Danny said his main object
in their races was to win, but
after talking to this personable young man, I'm
pretty sure that he would
gladly give all his wins over
to Terry to help his young
friend's cause, the defeat of
cancer, which is a
monumental cause in its own
right.
We had quite an interesting
conversation for about an
hour or so and I thoroughly
enjoyed the time spent. Only
once in a while does one get a
chance to meet someone close
to a national celebrity.
