j:JEPP-]ALK -.;. The Rossland Golden City Days celebration has come and gone and for the first time in a few years the sun managed to shine on most of the activity, the parade was a sun-drenched wonder and the route from the hospital hill to Spokane Street was packed with onlookers admiring the various floats entered. This year saw quite a large number of marching bands both local and from out of town. This is a very pleasant switch from past years and GCD coordinator Don Holmes and his committee are to be heartily congratulated on the whole show. I ran into Barb Armour of the Warriors Boosters and she said the Warriors have been working out in Trail since Sept. 1 and will play their first exhibition game in Beaver Valley Arena Sept. 18 followed by a return game with the Nite Hawks Sept. 21 at home. Season tickets will go on sale at that time. The Trail Juniors will be at the arena to play the Warriors Sept. 28. Registration for Minor Hockey will take place at the arena lounge Sept. 21-22 with times to be announced in all the local schools. There will probably be the usual swap-sessions in connection at the same time, but these have not been set up yet. Tuesday was a very gloomy day and the usual retirees gathering at the upper course never got off the ground. Harvey McKay, Jim Scott, Ernie Primeau and I were down there at the usual time but it rained hard for awhile and so we decided against setting anything up. As the day progressed it was easy to see we did the right thing. Maybe next week we shall be back at it. Thursday was invitational day at Christina and I imagine that Guy Morey will have a full report next week. During the past weekend there were many things going on in Rossland during the celebration. ~>A !
