About one year ag» quite a number of progpecters, among whom were Albin Almstrom and John Brewn, succeeded in getting over the mountains and through the snow to that portion of the Flat creek country that at that time not asingle white “man had ever struck a blow at mining, but which at the pres- ent time hundreds of locations have been made and quite a number of thou- sands of dollars have been expended in building roads, trails, camps veloping the propertics, says the North- port News. It was just about one year ago when Mesers Almstrom and Brown first made their locations in that locality. In July of that year they succecded in getting some prominent people of Spokane inter- ested with them, such as Judge Hey burn, Mr. Bemiss, superintendent of schools; Mr. Riggs, of the Spokone Drug company, and others, with the result} { that two separate companies were in- corporated to work and develop the properties, to wit: The Parker Mining companies and othe: About July 15 they went to work with a iorce of men on the properties in question, running crosscut tunnels, making roads and building camps, expending altogether something like $3,000 last season. Owing to heavy snows the work was discontinued through the winter. They now have ample funds in the treasury to continue work, which they propose to do as soon as the snow gets off so they can get in thei supplies. At the Jast annual meeting of the Parker com- pany Mr. Brown was elected superin- tendent and general manager. His wide and varied experience in mining has | # qualified and adapt«d him for the po- sition, and the company is expecting much from the direction and manage- w/e W.-C.
