ORE FROM MANY OTHER MINES Progress in the Development of the Various Properties of the Camp. What is Being Done in the Way of Improvements, The Columbia & Kootenay and the Virginia have taken places with ‘the shipping mines. of Ross This week, the former shipped one car load and the latter two box cars. Owing to the two days lost in the Labor Day holiday, the total shipments materially decreased this week, but, otherwise shipments were up to: the standard, and totalled 3191 tons. The new ship- pers mark an important epoch in the history of the camp. The ship- ments for the week are as follows: War Eagle. Iron Mask... Centre Star. Virginia. . Columbia & “Kootenay. . Total tons.. ‘The Iron Mask . In the Iron Mask mine the No. 2 winze is within ten feet of the 400 foot level. The west drift from the 350 foot level from the same winze work is in progress and shipments | have’ ‘been practically discohtinued | in order to continue development. All the drills are’ now in this work and active ship.nents will not be re- sumed until after. further work has been done. In the Le Roi mine there are now 27 machine drills and a few hand drills at work. Stoping is being prosecuted on the 500, 600 and 700 und 800 foot levels. The station at the goo foot level is now being cut and the shipping which was some- what interfered with by the holi- days, will be increased. The No. 1, On the No. 1 mine eight machines are now at work in the tunnel at the 200, 300 and 400 foot levels, drifting and raising. Sink- ing below: the 400 foot level will soon resumed. ‘The Josie and Annie, At the Josie anu Annie, a station at the 500 foot level is being cut out and preparations are being made to erect the 60 foot gallows frame. BThe Nickel Plate. The shaft in’ the Nickel Plate is now down about 340 feet and min- ing will be resumed after the 400 foot level is reached. The Great Western. Mrs. Marie Clarke, (nee Jephson) formerly of Seattle, wife of Herbert W. Clarke, died on Sunday, after an illness of over two years. The deceased was 31 years of age. Her husband is well known through his connection with the undertaking de- partment of the firm of Lockhart & Jordan.
