In typical low-key fashion, Langston isn't over whelmed by such an impressive statistical breakdown “It’s just fun to win, to be able to throw strikes and get ahead of the hitters, the way I did tonight,” he said. “*Once The Aquanauts set five new pool records at the meet including Melanie Streich in Div. 1 Girls 100 free, Jeff 42 GAMES BA Schuepfer in Div. 7 Boys 50 free, Head Coach John Fairbairn in Div. 7 “O" Boys 200 IM and 100 fly, and the Div. 7 Boys inthe Medley Relay CK The next acion for the Aquanauts is the Kimberley Seahorses meet this weekend with the Regionals coming up aweek after that Jays making a move ARLINGTON, Tex. (AP) Nolan Ryan's curve ball against the Toronto Blue Jays was so good it was almost uncatchable, Texas Rangers catcher Chad Kreuter said The result was a 4-0 Toronto victory Tuesday night despite a club record 18 strikeouts by Ryan and two Texas relievers. Ryan’s curve ball was breaking so sharply that the Blue Jays twice made it to first after strikeouts passed ball and once ona wild pitch Kreuter was knocking down pitches all night, and the Blue Jays exploited the situation with four easy stolen bases 1 did my job. If he wanted to strike out a guy at 0-2 or 1-2, he'd throw the curve in the dirt. It starts out waist high, and it’s strike three,” Kreuter said Toronto scored a-run in the first in- ning even though Ryan didn’t allow a hit or a walk. Centrefielder Cecil Espy dropped Junior Felix's pop fly for a two-base error, and Felix later scored on what would have been the third out when Kreuter let a strikeotit pitch get away from him, Ryan, 11-6, struck out 14, one short of his Rangers’ club record, in six in nings. But Toronto’s Dave Stieb, 10-6, and two relivers combined for a 4- hit ter that kept Texas at bay Duane Ward pitched the final 1 2-3 innings to get his 1 1th save: The Blue Jays got two runs off four scattered hits Ryan gave up through six innings, then drove him from the game with Kelly Gruber’s leadoff single in the seventh and George Bell’s RBI double “Nolan always pitches well, and Dave pitched well tonight. Ward did an outstanding job. There was some good pitching on both sides,"’ Toronto manager Cito Gaston said GAP NARROWS With the victory, the Blue Jays moved to within 4 games of the Baltimore Orioles in the American League East “The bullpen's pitched better We're starting to get key hits, and we're playing better defence.
