Gloria Joy Marie Bouchard
of Castlegar, duaghter of Mr.
and Mrs. Edward Waywood,
and: George Da Costa, of
Castlegar, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Manuel Da Costa, were
married July 27 in a garden
wedding at the home of the
bride's parents.

The bride walked down a
balcony decorated with off-
white satin pew_bows and
burgundy and off-white
streamers. An arch in the
garden was decorated with
greens and pink and bur-
gundy flowers.

The bride, given in marr-
iage by her father, wore a
three-quarter length off-
white lace gown tied at the
waist with an off-white satin
ribbon,-and matching lace
gloves.

Wedding in Rossland

A happy occasion * took
place in Rossland on Labor
Day when Eva-L. Shea and
Donn Foli of Vancouver were
united in marriage.

The bride and her late
husband, Dennis, owned and
operated the Castlegar Hotel
from the early 40s through
the early 1950s.

A friend of the bride, Anita
Prive of Trail, was maid of
honor and the bride's sister,
Arleen Bouchard of Castle-
gar, was bridesmaid.

The. attendants wore
three-quarter length off-
white dresses with a grey
flowered print. Both wore
headdresses with strands of
hanging pearls and wore the
bride's grandmother's pearls
as jewelry.

They each carried a long-
stemmed burgundy rose tied
with-a—burgundy™~ satin rib-

The bride's mother wore a
three-quarter length peach
dress with off-white lace trim
and the groom's mother wore
a. turquoise three-quarter
length dress.

The bride's son wore a
white suit with short pants

the ‘groom from Castlegar,
was best man and Rick
Shukin of Trail, also a friend
of the groom, was grooms-
man.

The bride's brother, Rene
Bouchard of Castlegar, was

the Legion Hall which was
decorated with pink and gray
flowers, burgundy streamers
and pink bells.

Master of ceremonies was
the groom's brother, Carl Da
Costa of Courtenay and the
toast to the bride was
proposed by the bride's un-
cle, Richard Waywood of
Pincher Creek, Alta.

The Philippine-style wed-
ding cake was decorated with
a fountain top and pink and
burgundy silk flowers. The
cake was decorated by the
groom's parents.

They covered the grave
with one scoop of dirt and put
up a popsicle stick cross with
‘Herman — 1984-85" written
in small letters. Herman was
peacefully laid to rest with a
good Christian burial.

Have you ever tried to
explain death to a small
child? Usually we stumble
and make an attempt to
reassure that death is not an
end. “Herman has gone to
heaven” is an easy reply toa
tough question.

But do we believe it? If we
doubt the reality of eternal
life for ourselves why deceive
our. children? Some would
say they don't want their
child to face the harsh
realities of life just yet.

Most hope that there is life
after death, and the ques-
tions ofa child lead us to that
very hope. Why do our little
ones even bother to ask

child or to the deep thinker.

The universe seems to cry
out, “There is more!” The
little children sense this fact

person who has died has

death may stop the body, but
where has the perSon gone?
All that we feel says that
ther person must still exist.

I know of no other religion
except Christianity which
offers proof of life on the
other side. Jesus Christ was
dead. Not even the non-
believer who saw him die
questioned that.

Yet, more than 500 saw
him after he came back to
life. Jesus said there was life
after death and told us the
way to heaven.

That is the problem. Most
people have a belief in life
after death but they don't
want to be nailed down as to
how we obtain it.
