The effort by some of the outside papers to establish the belief that there isa better racejfeeling growing up in Rossland between the Canadians and Americans will not effect the real facts and those are that the best of feeling prevails. It is not true that Americans refuse to buy Canadian goods or vice versa. Canadian goods are rapidly tak- ing the place of American manufact- ured articles in all instances where they can be supplied, and sold at a less price. Neither is it true as stated by the Miner that the building of the Le Roi smelter . at Northport has raised the ire of Cana dians vitally interested in the wellfare ofthecamp. The first aim and desire of all Rossland is to obtain as low freight and treatment charges for the output -o! the mines and they welcome the news of the Northport smelter or any other that has for its aim the consumation s0 devoutly to be wished. AND prejudice against the Le Roi people to run atriot. [he people of Rossland will not overlook the fact that the pay- roll of the Le Roi mine exceeds $6008 day and that the greater portion of it is spent here, and that the successful treatment of the low grade ore of that mine at Northport, will put many more men at work. This is of vital import- ance tothis city and the abuse of the Le Roi people by the Miner is calculated toinjure them, and in dving so every h. owner and busi man will be directly injured. The peo- ple do not have to read between the lines of the editorials in that sheet, for the lines themeelve, plainly indicate that the ‘‘power behind the thrown” in the Miner office is Mr. Heize, and that the burden of the song is for to haul and treat the ore of the Le Roi mine, There isa right and a wrong way for him to attempt to accomplish his end, and he is selecting the wrong.
