Campaign will be in town to
discuss the major role that
Nanoose Bay, 25 kilometres
north of Nanaimo, plays in
the testing and development
of weapons for U.S. nuclear
submarines, ships and air-
craft.

The base is visited reg-
ularly by ‘American ships and
nuclear attack submarines.
Last year peace activists
discovered that some of these
submarines now carry cruise
missiles.

As well, there will be a
discussion of the goals and
actions planned by the Na
noose Conversion Campaign,
which is working to end the
military use of Nanoose and
convert it to peaceful pur-
poses.

The campaign is being
escalated, as the Canada-U.
agreement covering the use
of Nanoose is due to expire in
April 1986.
