Robson School Wins Rural Track Meet in Exciting Contest On June 6 excited children from Brilliant, Ootischenia, Rob- son and Tarrys schools gathered at the Tarrys recreation grounds for the third annual rural cl- ementary schools’ track meet. H. Hyson, principal of the schools, acted as announcer as well as organizer of the day's events, Starters and judges for the 48 events were Mrs. Couch of Brilliant, Mrs. Murray and Mr. Filipoff of Ootischenia, Mrs, Quance and Mrs. Mackereth of Robson and Mrs. Waters, Mrs. Fleming, Mrs. Gray and Miss Hogendoovn of Tarrys. Mrs, Smith of Robson was re- corder and score-keeper. The Robsén school won the silver cup donated by the Tarrys Improvement Society. The school had 48 per cent of the possible points. In second place was Bril- liant with 45 per cent. Mrs, M. Konkin presented the trophy which was accepted by Shirley Porter, senior student of Robson school. This year individual trophies were awarded for the first time to the girl and boy winning the most points in the intermediate class. . Carol Gvetches of Tarrys car- ried off the girls’ trophy and Tom Batchelor of Brilliant won for the boys. School inspector C. S. Mc- Kenzie and schgol board chair- man R, T. Presiding over the supper with the Regent Mrs. Whittaker, were May Queen Sandra Gray and retiring Queen Kay Falle. Both girls were accompanied by their mothers, The members were again May Queen at IODE Supper Gergiey. Following the supper was a short business meeting with Re- gent Mrs. Whittaker in the chair. As the convenors for the Empire Day program committees sub- mitted their final reports Mrs. Whittaker thanked them for their diligent work and thanked all the members as well.
