4 CASTLEGAR NEWS, Thursday, May 15, 1969 THEY WERT THAT AWAY By Roy Goetting Work Parties Build Riding Ring I misspelled our presid- ent’s name in the first col- umn I wrote so to set the re- cord straight, Bob Dally is president until November. Sorry Bob. Last week we had three work parties. We had enough posts cut for our English and Western training rings. The English ring was set up at Pass Creek in time for the first lesson Saturday morning. It measures 100 it. .in diameter and contains 42 posts which are joined to- gether by about 700 feet of day. I didn’t hear about this until Monday, but one mem- ber felt it could have been avoided had the owners in- volved been more alert. Four of our members, namely Sam _ Hague and his family rode last Sunday into the land we hope to get for our permanent riding grounds —tThey think it is pretty good land and I hope to look it over next weekend. Maybe we can organize a trail ride, to ride in in the morning and back out in the evening. May 21 is our general meeting, It will be held at tone inch rope. This ithe ring twice. H ‘Tuesday evening we are igoing to have a work party t LO le Halk and Bob Dally is trying to have a guest speaker or show films at all future meet- ings, so be sure to be there. There will not be classes held at Pass Creek on May 24 as our instructors and many of our members be attending the Ko! Springs Gymkhana hel eonjunction with the N riding club at Kokan Springs Resort. This will be at Crawford Bay (across from the Golf Course) on May 25 from 10 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. There are 14 events, some of them quite funny. There will be an open dance on May 24 and I may go that day and tent overnight. So, see you all there. George W.
