Castlegar 365-5386 — Nelson 352-7252 The Selkirk Saints' basket- ball men have returned from - Kelowna with a well-earned grasp on firat place of the Western Division of the Totem Conference Basketball League, The song should be a- | mended to read “Oh when the Saints come marchin' In, over and out" because that about ‘ sums up the way they per- formed during the weekend of Jan, 28 - 24, Saints emerged from the tournament undefeated with a 20-plus margin in every game, They downed the strongly. favored Okanagan College squad 64-42; then went on to whip the College of New Caledonia of Prince George 84-63 before completing the serles with a 76-64 victory over the Cariboo College Chiefs. In the opening game a- gainst Okanagan the Saints showed how well balanced they are by spreading the scoring as follows; Ron Binns 16, Dave Nebor 13, Wayne Elkerton 10, Wayne McCarthy 9, and Wayne Tamelin and Jack Miles with 8 each. (Total offense 64-42). ‘The scoring in game two against Ron Thorsen's College of New Caledonia squad was somewhat moré concentrated as the Saints continually set up Wayne McCarthy who downed an amazing 42 points. Binns and Elkerton added 12 and nu respectively. The final game was per- haps the most satisfying win for the Selkirk squad due to the fact that they suffered a tough aplit’ with Cariboo at home a week ago winning 8442 the first night and losing by a single > point the second (85-64), This time there was no doubt in anyone's mind, When the final buzzer sounded Saints were up 76-54, Major scorers were Tamelin 87, Dave Nebor with 20 and Ron Binns with 13, Coach Hammond said his team played good, sound, fun- damental ball and felt that their exciting 76-15 victory aver Alaska in Castlegar in the Jan. 21 game helped motivate his charges, Hunting Licences All hunters are reminded that'current hunting and spec- ie Heenees expire on March 31, apie and Wildlife Branch director, Dr, J.
