CASTLEGAR NEWS, Thursday, February 24, 1977 XR) Scout-Guid Gulde Christine Churches Received Canada Cord Pregented by District Commissioner Mrs. Irene Hill ‘Robson Guide Receives Guidings Highest Award The highest award which a Canadian Girl Guide may earn, the Canada Cord, has been presented Christine Churches. Christine spent four years as a Brownie in Dartmouth, N.S. She flew up to Guides upon moving to New Glasgow, NS. In January of 1976 she re- ceived her General Guide Award and her All-Round Cord. She also earned her Canada Cord while with the New Glas- gow Guide Company. Her family moved to Rob- son in September of last year, before the presentation cere- mony where she would have been presented’ with her Canada Cord. However, Guid- ing is an International Organi- zation which enabled Christine to be presented with her Canada Cord during an Awards Ceremony held in December with the Robson 2nd Guide Company. District Commissioner Mrs. Irene Hill, who made the presentation, had been a child- hood friend of Christines’ father, Mr. Cliff Churehes, over 25 years ago, before he moved from this area to Nova Scotia.
