Investors should get used to such volatility, says an- alyst Leon Tuey of Dominion Securities Pitfield, because growing public demand for stocks is going to mean a rocky market in 1986. This will be “the year of the tiger” meaning the market will generally rise — but the ups and downs will be more violent than in the last 12 months, said the leading analyst for Canada's largest investment broker. Analyst Glenn Pike of Nesbitt Thomson noted that gold hit $380 U.S. an ounce on Thursday in Europe, which caused precious metals issues to gain. Oil, mean- while, hit its lowest level since the mid 1970s, he said. “It's been a confusing week for investors.” Volatility will be the name of the game in 1986, said Tuey.
