Lake named after Purney SUN STAFF A lake near Valhalla Provin- cial Park has been named in honor of a Slocan man who died in World War IL. Pumey Lake west of Vallhall Provincial Park is named after Pilot Officer Elvin C. Purney. Purney served in the Roy: Canadian Air Force and died on May 28, 1944. Nine other provincial geo- graphical features were also named in honor of B.C. resi- Day program. All geographical features were previously unnamed. The naming process is initiated by family or friends of those killed during the war.
