Prizes will be given for the funniest, most beautiful, most original, or for the best one representing a profes- sion. The annua! Christmas din- ner will be held Dec. 10. Members will be asked to pay $3 with the club paying the rest. It will be in the Legion Hall with happy hour from 6 - 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. The question of a bus is still pending. A total of $24,000 will be given when the same amount has been raised for the purchase of a bus. The Seniors’ Tea will be in the form of a coffee party with a bake table, sewing and white elephant tables Nov. 14 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Sarah Jacobsen will be the convenor and Mildred Brady offered to donate the door prize. A nominating committee was formed consisting of Liz Latta, Sarah Jacobsen and Helen Peddle to fill the 1987 slate of officers. They are residing in Calgary man Glenn Dirks supports UtiliCorp By CasNews Staff The Social Credit candi date in Nelson-Creston says he supports the bid by U.S based UtiliCorp to buy West Kootenay Power and Light Co. “The purchase by Utili Corp should not be refused simply on the basis of it being an American company,” Howard Dirks said in a policy statement issued this week “Although I prefer that all resource based companies in Canada be owned by Can adians, we must also realize that jobs and economic devel opment in our country and province requires investment from all sources,” Dirks said “The sale of the utility, whether to a Canadian or American firm, has to be approved by the B.C.
