Snowflakes, Bing Crosby and crackling fires
— asure sign that Christmas is on its way.

But the greatest sign that Christmas is near
are the hundreds of thousands of multi-colored
lights which brighten our nights at this time
of year.

Of course, illumination on this scale com-
bined with old man winter can occasionally
bring about unplanned outages for electric cus-
tomers. You can help West Kootenay Power to
re-establish service as quickly as possible when
the power goes off by taking a few simple steps.
If the electricity goes out for more than a few

dryers, hot water tanks, television sets, etc.) to

The effect of jolting the electrical system in-
to service during cold weather is similar to
starting a car engine after it sits for hours in
very cold weather. The surge of energy required

on bulbs peels. Outdoor strings should be hung
with bulbs downward to avoid moisture col-
lecting in sockets.

* Indoor lights should not be used outdoors
as they are not designed for the moisture and
cold temperature.
