The following was written as an English assignment on "My Most
Unforgetable Character”. We feel it is a fitting tribute to our
Father and Grandfather "Ernie" Ady.

MY GRAMPA ADY by Tanya Ady

My grampa was 76 years old but he preferred it if you
said “years young,” stood about 5'8" and of medium build.
He had very black hair sprinkled with a lot of white. He
had a dark complexion and a very wrinkly but soft face.

Grampa, would dress in blue jeans and a shirt that was
unbuttoned just about to his jeans. His strong hairy chest
would stick out and always showing was a chain with a
Roman coin attached which he had got in Italy during the
war.

He usually wore an old blue hat with a horseshoe nail
in it that he picked up at my place when my horse was
being shod. My Grampas smile and laugh could always
make me cheer up and laugh with lhim. I loved to hear
him tell funny stories about his war years as I'd only heard
about the rotten things.

Grampa would always be wearing Old Spice afterhsave
and he once told me that all the girls like the smell and
thats why he had so many girlfriends.

My Grampa. Ady passed away at the beginning of last
summer but I'll always be able to close my eyes and
remember how he dressed, the sound of his laugh and
how he smelled.

Lovingly remembered by Tany Ady and her parents Les and
Bonnie.
