7 This is quite a special week for all of us guys who served in the Armed Forces and came back afterwards. One of the main reasons it is so special is because maybe the only time in any year when a lot of us get a chance to think and remember those who went away along with us and did not come back. ' .' ' Those boys were just as happy-go-lucky as the rest of us but they weren't so lucky in the final analysis. We came back but an awful lot of them didn't. Some people try to sell you that war and all that happened during those days is best forgotten. But as far as I'm concerned I feel it is only right for us, who were spared, to return to remember for one day a year those guys whom we went on to leave with. The job we have at hand is ensure that we do not forget. Keep repeating over and over while passing the word along so that they will get the message that we try to put over every Remembrance Day. It is our duty never to lE:t anyone forget it! , Well, Retirees curling is under way and in the early going three rinks remained undefeated after two games. They are Norm Harry, Roy Fines and Russ Broughton. Roy is newly into the Retirees club, Norm has been there before and Russ has played steadily since we got the club started. I don't have all the rosters of these teams at hand but one of these days I'll give you all that story. I was over to the club this morning and everyone seemed to be enjoying things, our rink curled the afternoon today. The ladies are underway but I haven't heard any news of their play so far, that news will all come back to me sooner or later. Now to hockey and the fortunes of the Warriors. Last weekend I watched the game against the Rebels on Friday night but since Saturday was our Veterans Banquet I could not make it to Trail. My thoughts as I left the arena on Friday were a little mixed up. What happened in the late stages of the third period? I still don't know if they put in another goalie or not but it seemed to me that every time a Rebel shot it was a goal Someone said the Warriors went to sleep on the job. It certainly looked like something went wrong. On Friday nighat they go to Castlegar for a return engagement and on Sunday they entertain one of the top teams in the East when Columbia Valley Rockies pay a call for a 2 p.m. date. The Warriors could certainly use some points if they don't want the Rebels to get too far ahead and these weekend games are going to be a tough way to earn them. The Rockies are tied at the top of the East Division with Spokane, so they are not going to be any pushovers. I have been approached by some of the members of Rossland Eagles Aerie No. 10 to see if the Legion would be interested in maybe a Sunday date to get together and play some mixed curling. I have not talked to enough people to get a feeling on the subject from Branc No. 14 members. But I'll give it a try. In closing I would like to say I believe the fans are starting to show up for tpe Warrior games at the arena in larger numbers now. It would sure be nice to see a full house like we used to. P .S.: A late note just handed me today, the L.A. are holding a luncheon in the Lower Legion Hall on November 14 from 12 to 3 p.m. Charge is $1 per person. That is the morning of the Warrior banquet at the Miners Hall. Tickets are still available for that event. And on that note I think I'll call this one off, so 'Til next time, then! 1-- - - - - - - - ~ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ~ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - . ~
