Although we had left a bottle for Carla. my mother- in-law gave her some cereal because she didn't thing the bottle would satisfy her. When we got home, she told us what she had done, and I was very upset. I felt she had-taken this “first” away from us. I was also angry because the pediatrician had not yet said it was OK to start Carla on solids. We had a big argument, and I told my mother-in-law in plain lan- guage that my husband and I resented her taking over It didn't seem to matter, because last Christmas, she took Carla for her first visit to Santa. This was something I had been looking forward to doing myself. My mother-in-law didn't tell me about the visit, but she apparently took photos, which she didn't show us but which she sent to my pare with a note saying, “Here's your granddaughier's first visit to Santa.” Am I unreasonable to think my mother-in-!: hould be more these “firsts”?
