It, is to be rightly d that Ci will now all sign up for sub- stantial contributions to the society. The pressure of course, was quite justified. Indeed, it was over- due. For a long time past, K.R.C. members have been mostly smelter men in this district and only a very small percentage of business- men. This, we feel, is largely the fault of the K.R.C. directors them- selves, It is not to their credit that they have undertaken this cur- rent membership drive, only after pressure from the Chamber of Commerce, They shold have had several such; drives long ago to ensure their many grants are truly on behalf ‘ot the district and not just on behalf of the district smeltermen, Conversely, it is just as much a duty of every resident to become a steady K.R.C. contributor, as it is the duty of the K.R.C, directors to expand their membership in line with district population expan- sion. The K.R.C. was formed ‘for the purpose of eliminating tag days and individual appeals by every one of the numerous worthwhile district and national organizations that depend on charity for their work. By contributing to the K-R.C,, the Castlegar district resident, to all and district 3 worthy of con- tributing to, , when the of the Society is only a small percentage of the district population as it ‘has been till the present, the Society’s grants cannot possibly be.as large as they should be. Worthy appeals such as the Salvation Army, the Conquer Cancer Campaign and our own district charities, get only a token contribu- tion from the Castlegar District, simply because there is only at token istrict on the their are agency. It boils down to a few making contribu- tions on behalf of, the whole district, Everyone who is not a K.R.C. member is actually asking the handful that are to add his charitable obligations to their own, — a most vet situation, indeed. ,. 'tomorrow nightn a district dance hall, they will introduce it to the of | public. BANNER CROP! Funeral Held Moriday ies In Trail For Mother Of Kinnaird Resident.
