bake sale. A total of $133 was
realized and the raffle of a party
cake, donated by Merla Ridge, was
won by Peggy Bigham, and brought
in an additional $25.

First conference held

TORONTO (CP) — Twenty-two
years after getting rolling in Canada,
Meals on Wheels has held its first
national conference.

“Although we all deliver the ser
vice we discovered that we all have
our own unique way of doing it,” said
Bob Gleberzon, executive director of
Meals on Wheels of Ontario Inc.,
which organized the three-day meet.

The service, in which volunteers
deliver food to the elderly in their
homes, began in England. In Canada,
the first Meals on Wheels started in
Brantford, Ont. There is a Meals on
Wheels in Castlegar.

Fifty-two Meals on Wheels repre-

in Montreal next year.
