CASTLEGAR NEWS, Thursday, February 15, 1979 Local Figure Skaters Tops in West Kootenay Castlegar Figure Skating Club, hosts of the 1979 edition of the West Kootenay Figure ‘Skating Championships held ‘Feb. 3 and 4 at the Regional ‘Recreation Complex obtained 72 points to second-place Trail's 60 points to win the Barkley Trophy for the first time since it was donated in 1987.
