riage Aug. 23 in a candlelight
ceremony at St. Peter's Luth-
eran Chureh in Castlegar.

The church was decorated
with candelabra with white
candles on each side of the
alter, with six roses and
greenery.

The bride's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Alex Markin of
Thrums, and the groom's
mother, Ingeborg Frass of
Nelson, attended the cere-
mony. Bob Kenyon was the
officiating pastor and or.
ganist Mary Larsen played
the Wedding Song.

The bride was given in
marriage by her father Alex
Markin.

She wore a floor-length
satin wedding gown featur-
ing a long train. The yoke of
the bodice was decorated in
mother of pearl and the long
mutton-styled sleeves were

satin and lace.

The bride's waist-length
veil was held by a lace stand
up headpiece with silk flow

loom jewelry was white pearl
earrings.

The bride's bouquet was
made of fresh flowers, dusty
rose-colored rueben lilies and
roses, white stephanotis and
fern.

The maid of honor was
Valerie Zoobkoff of Slocan
Park and Debbie Moojelsky
of Glade was bridesmaid.
They wore floor-length,
dusty rose dresses of silk
taffeta with V neck lines,
gathered puffed sleeves and
wide waist bands.

They carried bouquets of
silk flowered, dusty rose,
rueben lilies and pink roses
accented with white flowers
and greenery.

Best man was Warren Rich
of Nelson and Al Chalek of

Ruby Maloff, daughter of Harry and Verna Maloff of
Krestova, and Cecil Verigin, son of John and Tena
Relkow of Creston, were married Sept. 6 at the home of
the bride's parents in a traditional Doukhobor ceremony.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a
Russian dress of embroidered satin which she made
herself.

The bride carried a bouquet of peach roses, white
stephenotis and baby roses made by her aunt, Mable
Koorbatoff.

The three-layer cake had peach and white roses.
Each layer was separated by crystal wine glasses and had
two white bells on top, also made by Mable Koorbatoff.

The bride's cousin, Val Barabanoff, was bridesmaid,
and John Chernoff was best man.

A reception was held at Playmor Hall, in_South
Slocan. Master of ceremonies was Harvey Chernoff.

Dave Babakieff, the bride's brother-in-law, made a
toast to the bride.

The newlyweds now reside in Crescent Valley.

will not close its doors after.

the Save the Langham cam
paign.

The campaign raised

$23,192 — just $1,807 short of
its original goal of $25,000 to
pay off the centre's mort
gage.
According to the centre,
more than 250 individual and
business donations were re
ceived, ranging from 10 cents
to $1,000 and totalling
$22,302.
