Chairman Bert Lamb thanked all , the executive and service teams for their help during 1982. The annual elections took place with the following Bert Lamb; Roberta secretary, Jolene, Gyurkovits; badge secretary, Grace Wilson; camp chairman, George pales public relations, hall Tan District Ce jurek following to the service team: ADC — Doris Latta; ape Beavers — Peggy Guindon; ADC Cubs — — Candy Je lerome; ADC Scouts — Bob Brommeland; ADC Senior ‘Bection — — Hugh Wilson; Marv Hart and Lloyd Groutage.:\: It was mentioned that hospitality for boys following the World Jamboree will be needed, as there wal he a large number visiting the Kootenays. " District Commissioner Mark Zurek submitted the following report: 1982 was a busy and exciting year that saw, scouting celebrato it’s 76th anniversary. The year atarted off with the district hosting “Snowball” at KJSS. February, saw Scout-Guide woek as the official kick-off of the 76th. The week began with a beacon fire at the viewpoint. A district dinner was held to honor G. Hughes for his contributions to scouting. The week ended with a BP. service. and birthday party. ‘ 1982 also saw a repeat of events of past years which included Kub Kar Rally, Cub Camp, Beaver Day ope and K.B.R. Camp. ‘ On bebalf of my wife and myself,-I\ would ‘like wo.) thank ‘the district for the lovely: tray. To all the boys leaders who mado tHe scroll, you made just that little’ bit ‘more, 9; forward to 1983, an sscliig 3 yoar is planned | Looking for all boys and leaders; ‘The district this year is hosting the regional'conference, a highlight for all leaders. ‘The ::,|' highlight for scouts should be the Jamboree of the Pacific, to which 90 are going. I would like to inform the district of my intention to resign at the 1983 Annual Meeting. I feel five years is enough for anyone in such a demanding ‘position as District Coramissioner. If a suitable replacement can be found before then, I will be willing to train that person: I would not want anyone to be given the job under. the cir- cumstances that I was because it makes it hard to get ‘established and created hard feelings whlch never seem toheal. + Good scouting in'83, I hope to make my {ast year my best as District Commissioner.
