The Dominion government, he said, had expended $3,500,000 to build the Crow’s Nest Paes, for the purpose of caring for the ores in this partof the country. He-had heard that there wag some fecling expressed in this district because road did not come direct ion to the fact, however, that the was under government control and would be the means of treating ores more cheaply. The government grease question a great deal 01 of Railroad Commission. In regard to a railroad commission he was in favorof one and promised to bring the matter before the government. This gov- ernment could not repudiate the con- tracts made with railroads by former wer naents, Every charter that had nted by the present vern- ment was subject to the control of » railway commission. For instance there were certain clauses in the charter of the Cc. BRIEF MEWS ABOUT THE CITY road| Mill at the International--Applica- tion Made by Ross Thompson to Queer Money Bylaw. There is nothing so disagreeable to s woman as tohave cold, wet skirts cling- ing about her ankles, therefore several Roseland women intend to brave the storm of public opinion and adopt short skirts. To judge by the expressions heard on every side, though public opin- ion would be in favor instead of against such a move. When the streets are wet and sloppy as they are now, it wears a woman’s patience to be dragging long wet skirts over the enow. If she has packages iocarry her duty is doubly trying. On the other hand sa woman with neat fitting gaitere and shorter skirts may trip merrily along without thoughts of wet skirts and a bad cold She has the advantage too, of appearing more graceful and at her ease.
