NOTICE OF INTERIM RATE INCREASE Effective January 1, 1993 4.7% PERMANENT INCREASE REQUESTED. BC Gas has applied to the British Columbia Utilities Commission for an average increase of 4.7% on the rates of most customers for 1993. BC Gas has not received a permanent increase in the rates we charge to our customers since the company’s inception in 1988. BC Gas requires an increase in rates to meet the demands of customer growth and to continue to provide safe and efficient service to all of our customers. 1993 INTERIM RATE INCREASE. On December 4, 1992, the Commission approved an interim rate increase of 9.787% on the gross margin of the divisional rate schedules for the Lower Mainland, Inland and Columbia Divisions (an average of 4.1% on the rates of most customers in the BC Gas service territory). This increase is not in addition to the 1992 3% interim rate increase that was ordered to be refunded. HOW YOUR BILL WILL BE AFFECTED. Your average residential gas bill will increase within a range of $0.50 to $0.86 per month, depending on the amount of gas used, over the amounts you paid in 1992 (before the refund). This interim rate increase applies to natural gas consumed beginning January 1, 1993. RATE HEARING IN SPRING 1993. This interim increase is subject to review and approval by the BCUC at a rate hearing anticipated in the spring of 1993. If the Commission does not approve a permanent 1993 rate increase, customers will receive a refund with interest. ee REFUND OF 1992 INTERIM RATE INCREASE. BC Gas’ application for a permanent 1992 3% rate increase was denied by the Commission. Asa result, the 3% interim increase, which was applied to all gas consumed during 1992, will be refunded, with interest, on the bill you receive in January or February.
