Adams, home economist for Heinz foods, offered the following tips on using vinegar around the home: © A teaspoon of vinegar in a pint of furniture polish will add a beautiful luster to your furniture. e A teaspoon of vinegar added to the rinse water will help nylon stockings retain their elasticity. e Soaking garments in warm vinegar will remove perspiration stains. © Discoloration can be re- moved from slightly scorched garments by rubbing the ma- terial lightly with vinegar, e A teaspoon of vinegar in frying oil will prevent the food from absorbing so much oil. @ When boiling potatoes, add a few. drops of vinegar to the water to keep the potatoes from turning dark. e When poaching eggs, add a teaspoon of vinegar to the water to keep the egg whites from spreading. © Add a teaspoon of vin- egar to the water when boiling rice to keep the grains whole, e A tablespoon of vinegar added to the water in which beef is boiled will make the meat tender. @ To eliminate odors from jars, rinse them out with a vinegar solution. © @ Absorb the odor of fresh paint after decorating by put- ting a small dish of vinegar in the room, _ © Rubbing the hands with vinegar will remove onion and fish odor. Over the past years we have absorbed many _ cultures and ideas into the theme and general feeling of the fair, By bringing back a lot of the old ways in the form of forgotten crafts, music, cul- tures and techniques, in balance with the new forms of the present we are reaching a very broad range of people.” The Faire is completely self-sufficient relying on a small admission charge at the gate and booth rental to cover expenses.
