R. Goulet, Castlegar was elect- ed by a small majority to ‘the post of vice-president and Guy Guido, Kinnaird, received the of- fice of secretary-treasurer by ac- clamation. , In its business session, the Club decided to undertake the building of a garage for the-new parish priest, Father Trainor. R, Goulet heads the committee in charge and a work party for the purpose is being organized. Appreciation was expressed to the retiring officers, L. V. Camp- bell, president; Guy Guido, vice- president and V. A, Misutka, secretary-treasurer. The Castle- gar Columpbus Club is a branch of Trail Council, Knights of Col- umbus. Village Finances Get Overhauling It- being the last meeting of the retiring board of commissioners, they subjected village finances 4+ to some Juggling to rectify some discrepancies, First of all, the cost of the ditch digger, which had been charged to the public works, is being charged to the waterworks since it is that department which has made the major use of that machine. Also, the cost of bull- dozer operating on waterworks installations, was authorized to be charged against the water- works account which is winding up the year with a surplus of ‘some $11,000. “There is a slight overdraft in the general account, the village clerk reported, but when the vil- lage’s portion of the S.S.M.A. tax distribution arrives( it is expect- ed any day now), a substantial surplus will result. Kinnaird Presbyterian Ladies Aid held their annual tea and sale of work in the Com- munity Hall on Saturday, Dec- ember 13. There were ten tea_ tables centred with the red and green Christmas colors and the event was well patronized with many Trail residents in attendance. The bake table, with a wide variety of. home cooking, was in charge of Mrs, J. Pickering. The work stall, handicrafts and par- cel post, were supervised by Mrs. Pfieffer, Mrs. Adie and Mrs, M. Campbell. There were also a fine select- ion of home made candy cookies and novelties, made by the seven girls:of the choir, looked after by Mary Heagy and Myrna Som- mers, . Mrs. Watson was in charge of the tickets and the door prize which was won-by Mrs, Edmund Calkin. Convenor for the tea depart- ment was Mrs. Donald McIntosh, ably assisted by Mrs. H. Creight- on, Mrs. Maitland, Miss Fennie J onkman, Mrs. McKellar and Mrs. Pilkey while ten little choir girls were serviteurs. Lending assistance in several phases of the event were Messrs.
