The Castlegar Women's Associ- ation hired coordinator Leigh Simms to establish the system in Castlegar, while at the same time raise community consciousness of the problem of domestic disputes and wife beating. That was 14 weeks ago, and Simms says she has succeeded in both areas. “Both goals have been reached—but I'd like to add that more, much more is needed to be done in Castlegar when it comes to educating the public about wife abuse,” Simms said.
