raises $12,000 here

The Castlegar Unit of the Canadian
Cancer Society is pleased to report a
successful 1990 campaign.

Through the efforts of 63 hard-
working canvassers and the generous
support of the communities of
Castlegar, Robson, Blueberry, Rasp-
berry and Ootischenia, $12,117.24
was raised. This is an increase of
$702.32 over 1989.

An inability to recruit canvassers in
several areas in the district has made it
necessary to implement a mail drop to
cover these areas.

Money generated from this drop
and credited to the Castlegar Unit so
far has amounted to $712.

In March, a local man, Darcy

MacKinnon, collected pledges on
behalf of the Cancer Society from
family, friends and co-workers in
return for having his head shaved. He
raised a total of $1,327.

Money raised continues to develop
and implement programs in research,
public education and patient services.
