One evening | started a conversation about my plans for a holiday trip...and I wanted to surprise her about the location. “What about a safari in Kenya in East Africa” I said. I expected a loud shout of joy, but instead there was silence. Then Karen said: “I cannot go on a safari in Kenya because I am pregnant”. I needed a moment to arrange my thoughts and then said: “So what? That is no problem at present. You report to a clinic and in ten minutes the matters fixed...the money is no problem.” Suddenly there appeared an expression of proud determination on Karen's face. “No” she said, money is indeed no problem, not for you and not for me, but I am not going to report anywhere to finish the matter in ten minutes. I will keep this child.” In these few I saw the ful and fully built structure of my financial security crumble to pieces. “In Rev. What exactly happened on the way to the hospital I can hardly remember. The paramedic pushed me aside, worked with various kinds of instruments and talked in the radio. The para-medic handed me a baby wrapped ir a blanket. | saw a small face, red skin, moist dark hair, tiny fingers. “I am you dad” I assured him “I am your dad.” The dark haze which for months had obscured my mind, brightened up. Later I said to Karen “I think | could accept to become deaf now I have heard the first cry of our baby” and Karen said: “they have been the most beautiful flowers I ever received.” The remorse of conscience which had hurt the father for so long, hurts and tortures at present the minds and hearts of these who aborted their babies and cannot get ready with it and will not get ready with it even after many years.
