' I r witll ' ft:PP-]ALK • In a fitting climax· to a wonderful curling season, the Retirees' invitation to the Trail club was a resounding success. Everyone I talked to thoroughly enjoyed the 10-end rotation matches of which four were played in the morning and two in the afternoon. Trail curlers won three of the games, while the successful Rossland rinks were those of George Kent and Russ Broughton with Carl Hansen and Angus Popplewell matched up and the game ending in~ tie. Turning from the con• templation of days gone by to those to come we can look forward now to golf, fun: softball and minor soccer, the Labatts' season and, if rumors are correct, we shall be seeing men's fastball in , town again, the first for som~ years. · Some of us have already had ·a trip to Colville under our belt and will be looking forward . to our first try at Birchbank, and of course; when the snow disappears, a crack at the upper course. • In the field of minor soccer, a three-person board has been chosen to work with and for . the kids who dig the· soccer game. He was to let me know when the league meetings wer,e scheduled in Nelson, but :I guess our communlcatloll/3were not in order. I see they have a scheduled game with Trail, so I imagine the schedule must be drawn up. More on this in the near future. . I heard a rumor that John Stanton was going to try to raise a fastball team in town but I didn't get any .details 2'21 yet. As I said earlier, tlUs would be in the form of something we hear about from Trail but haven't seen in Rossland for some time. So, all in all, it looks as though there may be a variety of sports to watcli this coming summer, and to particlpa~ in, if one feels so inclined.
