This exchange was aponsored by the Castlegar Selkirk Lions Club as well a other clubs of Division 19-E. Iris spent a week with Mr. and Mrs. Kent at Benge, Wash., .while Lori had Mr. and Mrs, Martins of Washtiicna as her hosts, Having spent most of their ” tives in B.C. among the moun- tains, the girls were really impressed with the area’ they’ visited which is a rural farming Auxiliary district. which exports wheat ‘and grain. The terrain, which is about 75 miles southwest of Spokane, is mainly rolling ‘plains which is largely eulti- vated with grain crops, ' The girls attended the local school there and noted that it was really quite different from home in that they have “closed campus” which means that you cannot leave the school grounds during school hours. Girls from Fernie and Golden also trayelled to this area as part of the exchange program sponsored by the Lions Club. Delegates To Attend Planting An invitation to members of the Ladies’ Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian’ Legion to -at- tend the planting of the Flower of Hope seeds at City Hall on May .7-> was read at their monthly meeting Monday eve- ning in the Legion Hall. Two of the members ‘will attend the planting ceremonies, to be fol- lowed by tea at Bilver: Birch School. Mr. Blais expressed his thanks and appreciation to all for their support and assistance during the zone meeting; also for the assistance the branch receives fromthe L.A. The L.A. draw held during the zone meeting had‘ been successful and thanks were ex- tended to those members who had made generous donations of prizes for the draw.
