There are indications that the Turner govern- ment will emerge into the conservative party and the opposition into the liberal party, and this is where the confusion will come in. There are many con- servatives opposed tothe Turner gov- ernment and liberals who favor it, but the time is probably near at hand when politicians ;will be forced into lien on one side or the other. —_——_—_ ee The mining industry in the vicinity of Rossland is going forward in a manner which is encouraging. In nearly every instance work has increased the value of the property on which it has been done. Although the rock is hard and depth is necessary, work is progressing so that additional shippers are being added to the list. Another twelve months will put this camp far in the lead of any gold producing district in the west, if not in the world. —_——— Times are picking up in Rossland. The work on the streets is having some- thing todo with it. Prospectors and miners who have been ont in the hills are returning to town. Prices of min- ing property are more reasonable this year than last and ly a great na,” adding: “It is awful to contem- plate the results of Hanna being done out of his price for making McKunley president. Some innocents may object that if Sherman is too senile to hold office he must be too eenile for the sen- ate, but as a matter of fact no one has yet estimated how incompetent a man him.
