mixed chorus is the oldest
non-athletic club on the Uni-
versity of Alberta campus
and has been delighting aud-
iences with its fine choral
music for many years.

In the Alberta Choral Fed-
eration’s 1987 ‘Sing Alberta’
festival, the 60-member
chorus won awards for the
best overall performance of a
contemporary selection and
the best overall performance
by an adult choir.

medal awards

Thirty medals were awarded at the Third Annual
Science Fair Saturday in the activity room of Stanley
Humphries secondary school. A total of 49 science
projects were on display with entrants ranging in age
from Kindergarten right up to Grade 10.

Risha Gorkoff from Tarrys elementary won the first
prize for the Kindergarten entry with her fantasy
project. Other first-place finishers included: Jordan
Barlow of Grade 1 Kinnaird elementary school for his
dinosaur project; Sonja Nevakshonoff, a Grade 2 student
at Castlegar primary, for her ice cream project; David
Evdokimoff of Twin Rivers elementary for his Grade 3
project on endangered species in Canada; Selena Fodor of
Woodlad Park for her Grade 4 squash bug project;
Kinnaird junior students Roxanne Wiebe and Averil
Sheppard for their Grade 6 project on voleanoes and
‘earthquakes; Grade 7 students Janet Kalesnikoff and
Candice Laroche from Kinnaird Junior with their solar
eclipse project; Kinnaird Junior's Daniel Fodor and Venie
Voykin for their Grade 8 knapweed project and Kathy
Schaprickyn and Diana Yofonoff's Grade 10 project on the
Bermuda Triangle. Schaprickyn is from Stanley Humph
ries and Yofonoff is from Kinnaird Junior.

the Science Fair held this weekend at Stanley Hum-
phries secondary school.

included: Jackie Greenwood for a Grade 2 dinosaur
project; Mady Nevakshonoff for a Grade 3 project on
carbon dioxide; Cindy Jollimore for her Grade 4 wood tick
project; Misty Him's Killi fish project tied with Mandy
Geraud’s mouse maze in the Grade 5 division; Chris
Ursaki and Steven Brown for their Grade 7 amazing
crystals project; Lisa Chernoff's chemical reactions and
Kanny Proctor’s color psychology tied in the Grade 8
competition and Brian Belton's Jolt Box took the Grade
10 third-place honors.

The fair was set up by the School District No. 9
parents committee to promote inter-school projects and
work

The five judges for the competition were Lach
Farrel, Jim Chapman, Dave Mason, Bill Babakaiff and
Muriel Walton.

The students mentioned above all won medals for
their projects but every student who entered a project
will receive a participation certificate.
