Reports were given from the various committees with the Home Economics con- venor distributing two new cookie recipes which were to be added to the W. I. cook book. Mrs. was inted representative to the Crippled Children’s Society. The meeting was brought to a close after Mrs. Anderson read ‘two inter- esting articles namely, “To a Child That “Inquires” by Olga Petrova and “How to Worry” by Dr. J. R. Grant. Refreshments were served by the hostess as- sisted by Mrs. R. Moffat. Wayne Eastcott, of Rossland, has been visiting his grandpar- ents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Fleming, of Rossland, spent the week-end at the home of Mrs. Fleming’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. Quayle. Mrs. Rindler, of Slocan City, is visiting at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Rindler. Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Martin had a short Easter holiday at Kim- berley. . Miss Audrey Thorp, who is nursing in Edmonton, arrived home for a short Easter holi- day. Accompanying her is her finance, Dennis Webb, also of Edmonton. representative to the Crippled Children’s Society after giving a report on the meéting that was held in Trail. Concerning the Annual Provincial, Conference, Mrs. R. Berry was appointed as delegate. It was decided to hold the An- nual Strawberry Festival in Ju- ly as in the previous years. She has been away about two months, Returning from the I. O. D. E. conference held in Vancou- ver were Mrs. D. Magee and Mrs. Jack Scott. Mr. and Mrs. R. Bro and child- ren left on Friday for Varcou- ver and Victoria, where they will spend their holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gavirlik ani children spent Easter Sun- da; at the home of Mrs. Gavir- lik. * ‘The last meeting of the Lea- ther Craft Club was held in the home of Mrs. W. Waldie. At the close of the evening the in- structor, Mts. Ostrom was pre- sented with a Parker 51 pen by Mis. H. Johnson. All members were thanked by Mrs. Ostrom for all the enjoyable evenings spent together on their differ- ent projects. s 8 * The business meeting of the Evening Group was held at the home of Mrs. R. Oborne with fifteen members present. The work convenor reported that more material had been obtain- ed for the bazaar. It was decid- ed that the prize to be raffled would be a rug as in previous years. Mrs. Anderson will be in charge of this. The president, Mrs. D. Duncan, was nominated ‘Novel Shower Held The unique feature of a miscel- laneous surprise shower for Miss Barbara Easton, held at the home of Mrs. J. L. Groutage on Wed- nesday night, was the fact that all 30 guests present were dress- ed as men. Almost all types of citizenry were represented cluding, cowboys, hoboes, “men about town” in business ‘suits, sportswear, pyjamas and robe, tuxedo and top hat, a_ service- man, an artist, a ferryman, and a big game hunter. Much’ mer- riment ensued as each new guest arrived. Prize winner of the most original costume was won by Mrs. R. A. West, dressed as a big game hunter, with khaki shirt, shorts, putties and a sun helmet, with a rifle and a trophy of her hunting trip, a leopard skin with bared fangs, slung over her shoulder. Mrs. L. E. Davis, as a grotesuely shaped ho- bo with a gruesome grey, buck- toothed mask won the prize for the most comical. . Mrs. Groutage presented the honoree and her mother, Mrs. W. T. EaSton with corsages of yel- low bud tulips, white narcissus and fushias. An old Scottish custom was carried out when Mrs. J. Deans, co-hostess of the affair made the announcement and Mrs. Groutage presented the guest of honor with a pink baby commode filled with salt and top- ped with innumerable lighted pink candles.
