CASTLEGAR NEWS, Thursday, March 91, 1977 Local Project Society Has Successful First Year Project Soctety's First Annual Meeting Failed to Produce Crowd A report of their trip to the provincial fund-raising conven- tion in Vancouver was given by Mrs. Mae Moroso and 1977 } canvass chairman Len Embree tat a meeting of the Castlegar ‘ ‘ chapter of the Canadian Cancer ‘ {Society held last Wednesday ! evening at the home of Mrs. 1 Moroso. : Mrs. Moroso and Mr. Em- ‘bree met other provincial dele- ; gates in planning strategy for this year’s cancer canvass, ‘They also toured the treatment , facilities on Heather Street in Vancouver and the new :Triumph complex on the UBC ;campus, Mr. Embree commented on the optimism held for treat-- ment at the Triumph centre, which is tentatively scheduled to begin operation early next year. He also -noted that Triumph is funded solely by a federal grant and charitable contributions, Mr. Embree also assured canvass zone captains of the :necessity to canvass independ- cently. Zone captains were ap- pointed for the canvass and general strategy was decided upon. The meeting was: ad- journed amidst much enthu- siasm and optimism.
