Carroll has re- turned from an inspection of the new rifle range for the Rossland company of the Kootenay Rifles at Barney’s ranch, The range has been surveyed and fixed up at the expense of Capt. P. McL. Forin and will be ready by tomorrow when the first shoot will take place at 3 p. m. As next Monday will be a public holiday it is probable that there will be another practice shoot then. The range is about 150 or 200 yards from the railroad track and can be used for any distance up to 1,000 yards and will be one of the best in the province. Arrangements will - probably be made with the railway company to afford special facilities for the members of the company and visitors to reach the grounds easily on the practice days. Sergeant Carroll says the company is getting on with its drill very well and that the material for good soldiers here is as good as can be found any- where. ‘There’ is plenty of room here for two i Ottawa correspondent of the Lon- don Times, Toronto Mail and Em- pire and other papers, who has been ‘and Liver Pills.
