wants
dentist

suspended

VANCOUVER (CP) — The
relatives of an elderly man
who died in a dentist's chair
from a drug overdose two
years ago say they still want
the dentist suspe:

The B.C. College of Dental
Surgeons ruled last May that
a refresher course on anes-
thetics was adequate dis-
ciplinary action for Dr. Don
Shuen, the dentist who gave

the overdose. Shuen now is
practising in Vancouver.

Charlie Nooski Jr., 83, died
March 16, 1984, after being
injected with repeated doses
of Prilocaine, a local anesthe-
tie.

Nooski, a resident of the
Nautley Indian reserve in
northern British Columbia,
had been sent from the hos-
pital in Vanderhoof where he

Doctors at the hospital felt
the elderly man would eat
better if the dental work
were done.

A coroner's report shows
that at the dental clinic,
Nooski was given 12 shots
totalling 864 milligrams of
