festival
Thursday

The second annual Spring Festival
of the Arts takes place May 3 at 6:45
p.m. at Stanley Humphries secondary
school. The work of a wide variety of
talent from kindergarten to Grade 8
within the Castlegar school district
will be featured including drama,
band and choir. Doors will open at
6:30 p.m. to enable the public to view
the visual art component submitted
from all schools.

The visual art work will be on
display at intermission and after per-
formances.

Admission is free but there will be a
donation box to collect loonies with
the proceeds going toward the future
conversion of the SHSS activity room
to a multi-purpose community
theatre.

The co-sponsors of this event, the
Castlegar Arts Council and the
Castlegar school district, invite all
members of the community to view
the work of students from the school
district.

Pythians
celebrate
century

Members of the local Knights of

Pythias and Pythian Sisters
organizations will attend the Grand
Lodge of B.C. gathering in New
Westminster on May 10, 11 and 12,
the 100th anniversary of the Grand
Lodge of B.C. Representatives of
other West Kootenay lodges will also
attend the event which coincides with
Pythian Week in B.C. May 6 to 12.
The Knights of Pythias and Pythian
Sisters participate in numerous
philanthropic activities including local
civic projects, donations to charities,
scholarships to students and financial
support for neurological centres
