John Fred Markin of
Grand Forks, formerly -of
Castlegar, died suddenly at
Nelson June 10, aged 75.

- Markin was born in
Langham, Sask. on April 23,
1908. He later came to Pass
Creek where he was married
to Winnifred Postnikoff. He

resided in'the valley until he’

moved to Grand Forks in
1977.

Mr. Markin worked in ‘the
logging industry until he was
injured. He then, took up
shoemaking in Castlegar, re-
tiring shortly. before. his
move to Grand Forks.

Mr. Markin was a member
of the Solovanic Senior Cit-
izens of Grand Forks.

He was predeceased by his
wife Winnie in 1975, and one
son-in-law Paul Niminiken.

He is survived by five
daughters;, Laura: Poznikoff
of Abbotsford; Winnie Nim-

iniken of South ‘SYocan; Nan-

cy Verigin of Grand Forks;
Pauli Detchkoff of Harrison
Hot Springs; and Anne Mar-
kin of Burnaby; 12 - grand-
children, one great-grand-
