Submitted by David Kroeker, Russian Evangelical Church “Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while he is near.” (Isaiah 55:6) Every person in the world is seeking something. Everyone has in his life a goal. Peo- ple are seeking so many different things, some good, some bad, some downright destructive. As we look around, we see astounding progress in science, technology, medicine. We are amazed at how smart our computers are. How. comfortable our hous- es are! In everything we see progress. We should see the same progress in our morals _and ethical behaviour. Alas, here we sega terrible regression, a great backward move- ment. It says, “Low, this only have I found, that God had made man : s upright, but they sought out many inventions.” (Ecclesiastes 7:29) GRA N | The Bible is telling us here that in spite of what God made man to be, we have gone : after whatever appealed to us, not paying any attention to what god would have us to do or to be. What does God say to this? God, speaking through the prophet says: “I will also stretch out mine had upon...them that are tured back form the Lord; and those that have not’ sought the Lord, nor enquired for him.” (Zephaniah 1:4-6) In the ' New Testament, the description is much more graphic - Romans 1:23 and following says, “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible_man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. ‘Wherefore God also gave them up to unclean- ness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves...” and the descrip- tion goes on to far worse things from there. You are welcome here! Pastor Stan Block and the purpose of our creation is “...that they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from everyone of us.” (Acts 17:27) God wants to have communication with us. We know that sin has separated us from God. In spite of that, God loves us, and so He has made a way for us to come back to him. He sent His Son, Jesus, to die in our place on the cross for our sins. What we must do is admit our guilt, our sin, so that we can accept the sacrifice Jesus made a8 for our sins. We could not pay the price ourselves for our sins, but that is what Jesus did for us. Let us call to Jesus to forgive us and to cleanse qur hearts, and then we can look with joy to God, that He might help us through this difficult life, and be as Enoch who “...walked with God: and he was not, for God took him.” (Genesis 6:24) God bless you all, Amen.
