Bad Weather Sunday Forces Light Aircraft To Make Emergency Landing Near Slocan A light alreraft, forced by bad weather to land on High- way 6 twomilles south of Slocan Sunday, took off Monday morn- ing from a nearby alfalfa field because RCMP couldn't let him use the highway for an airport. The successful take-off was confirmed by Crescent Valley RCMP Tuesday who stated the plane made its next landing at the Nelson Airpo: Sunday's Pein occurred when Adam Horochuck, 48, of Nanaimo was forced to land his rented single engine Cessna 150 aircraft after he encountered heavy rain and thunder show- ers in the Slocan Valley. He and his passenger, Hay Lechance, of Steveston, landed , at 140 p.m.’ Sunday on a atraight stretch of newly paved highway after passing motor- ists stopped traffic. The aircraft hit a highway sign on its landing roll, damaging a wing tip, and breaking the naviga- tion light on it.
