Based on today's power values, Nash said, the B.C. share of extra downstream power for the second half of the 60-year treaty, starting about 1994, would be worth that amount. He said there are hazards in trying to guess values 15 to 16 years from now. In fact, it is impossible to say now. just. what. B.C.’s bargaining position will be when the time comes to work out arrangements for ‘handling the remaining B.C. entitlement to power benefits. “It will be based on con- ditions at that time and will be based to a large extent on the relative ability of the United States to be self-sufficient in energy,” he said. Presumably, it might be possible to bring this power to B.C. rather than continue selling it in the U.S. but, either way, it still would have value to Hydro. Newly-elected members are: Ali Nakhjavani from Kenya; Hushmand Fatheazam from Persia; lan Semple from Scotland, David Hoffman from Britain; Borrah Kavelin, Amoz Gibson, David Ruhe, Charles Wolcott and Hugh Chance from the U.S. In addition to the election itself, the convention examined the progress made in the House of Justice’s current five-year plan of expansion and con- solidation of Baha'i communi- ties and institutions around the world, and learned that one- third of the national com- munities had already fulfilled the goals given to them with a year left to go in the plan. One of the highlights of the convention was a full-length audio-visual presentation on the state of the plan. It featured accomplishments to date of the various national communities, and during its course, it became apparent that the Canadian community had risen to play a major role in the affairs of the Baha'i world.
