Belczyk not impressed with Tomba

involving two European racers’ at
Lake Louise, could damage the
reputation of Canadian ski racing,

Belezyk. “He became very rude
toward the lift operator.

“The area manager happened
‘to come along while this was hap-
pening, one thing led to another
and I believe Tomba actually
ended up in a scrap with the man-
ager,” said Belezyk. “The police
even became involved.”

Tomba was banned from the
bill for the remainder of the day
and refused to race the following
day, in protest.

“There’s no question he
deserved it,” said Belezyk. “He
was exceedingly rude.”
