PEPP-J~L~;: This week's Retirees Day saw 57 members out on one of the nicest days the gang has had thus far, this season, nice sunshine, just a breeze enough to keep it from being too hot and everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy it. We played bingo, bango, bongo for the first time this season, low gross, low net, hidden bole, high on No. 6, long putt on No. 9, and closest to the pin on No. 5. Marcel Proulx had 11 BBB points to win, low gross went to Jim Scott in a draw ·with Sam Anselmo, both with 40's. In low net it was Joe Riley winning over Willie Scott, Bill Orencbuck and Bob Miller, also in a draw, after all finished at 34. Jack McDonald won the high hidden hole in which he had fairly close competition from a couple of others while Wes Tanner took CP on No. 5 with a shot that stopped seven feet short of the cup. In the long putt on No. 9 we had to go by the rule which says a putt does not count if it is off the putting surface. Al Turner, on bis return from sick bay, sank one that way so we gave the ball to Sam Martin, whose ball was on the putting surface. Sorry Al, but I guess rules are there for a reason and should be followed when at all possible. · Nest week it will be Joe Bielll, Dave Nicol and Torchy Torresan .on the job. We understand that this is holiday time and people are out of town for one reason or another. During the past few weeks Bart and I have been giving some guys some insight on the job of score-keeping and it has been very gratifying to see how these chaps have caught on. We would like to run it off a notice board but to do this we have to use too many guys on a day, which is a little difficult at times. So, come on guys and offer. If you are not because you do not know the score, one of the boys will help and we won't press you. But, we need you! Thanks, in advance, for offering. Little League has done its part for baseball in Trail, thanks in a big way to remarkable Andy Bilesky. To tell you the truth, I'm really looking forward to seeing these national championships this year right in our own area. I'm sure they'll be all that's expected of them and if Trail should win their part, that would be the icing on the cake. And now, before I wear out the ink in my pen, I'll say. 'Til next time, then!
