receive the Order of British’
Colkumbia, the highest form of
recognition extended by the

honor since it was first award-
ed in 1990.

They include the late Grace
MacInnis, British Columbia’s
first woman Member of Par-
liament; Frank Beinder of
Rossland, who made an out-
standing contribution to the
community college system;
historian Margaret Ormsby of
Vernon; Merritt community
activist Sherwin Kelly; natu-
ralist Ian McTaggart-Cowan
of Victoria; Vancouver musi-
cian Bryan Adams; Phyllis
Chelsea of the Alkali Lake
Band; and Rick Hansen of
Vancouver, whose triumphs
over disability have made him
a role model for all British
Columbians.
