Th C Vv. The plan, current- 7 7 ly in draft from, sug- | _ 4 ¥ ty Ore gest a number of im- ~ provements to the maintenance and administration of the open space system, but basically concludes that the num- ber and size of parks in the community is sufficient to meet current standards. Recommendations from the draft in- cluded numerous improvements and adjustments to existing parks, including the construction of a new ball diamond at Kinnaird Park, elimination of the tennis courts at Lorne Zinio Park, improvements to Kinsmen Park, and the even- tual replacement of the recreation vehicle site at the com- munity complex. Representatives from the general public objected to a rec- ommendation, suggesting the sale of 9th Avenue Park, en- couraging council to provide childrens” play apparatus in an area of the community that is lacking in such facilities at the present time. Residents also stressed the importance of further im- provements at Conehill park, again stressing a. significant need in an area with a large number of children. Following the meeting, Ald. Bob Pakula suggested that the preliminary plans would be reviewed during the next two weeks, following which revisions would be incorporated in- to the plan. It is anticipated that the final plan will be pre- sented to the public in late April. Anyone interested in ob- taining a copy of the draft should contact Barry Comin, Superintendent of Public Works at city hall.
